The City Development Plan is Cork City Council’s main strategic planning policy document and it will guide the future development of the city between now and 2021.
Goal 2 of the Cork City Development Plan
‘ACHIEVE A HIGHER QUALITY OF LIFE, PROMOTE SOCIAL INCLUSION AND MAKE THE CITY AN ATTRACTIVE AND HEALTHY PLACE TO LIVE, WORK, VISIT AND INVEST IN’ acknowledges the key role of Cork as a designated WHO Healthy City can play in supporting this.
The development plan is a strategy document for the City that:
- Provides a vision for how Cork will be developed and improved with a strong focus on putting the right development in the right locations and ensuring that adequate infrastructure exists to serve it (e.g. transport);
- Sets out the priorities for managing the city and investment in infrastructure over the plan period;
- Is a key reference-point in determining planning applications.
