The International Healthy Cities Conference “Health and the City: Urban living in the 21st Century”, took place in Athens, Greece, on 22-25 October 2014.
This year’s international conference marks 25 years of implementation of the Healthy Cities programme in the European region of the WHO and the launch of the sixth 5-year phase, 2014-2018. It also marks the implementation of the new WHO agenda, “Health 2020”. Click here for further information.

WHO Presentation for Cork City’s commitment to WHO European Healthy Cities
At the event Cork City was officially awarded a certificate in recognition of its contribution to the Healthy City Movement and Health 2020 programme over the last five years (2009 – 2013).
On Monday Dec 8th, Cork Healthy Cities Steering Group officially presented The Lord Mayor of Cork Councillor Mary Shields with the prestigious WHO certificate.
The Certificate acknowledges Cork city’s commitment and contribution to the World Health Organisation European Healthy Cities Network during 2009 – 2013 and is signed by Dr. Agis Tsouros, the Director of Policy and Governance for Health and Wellbeing.
