The 2022 WHO Healthy Cities Annual Business Meeting and Technical Conference was hosted in Copenhagen and ran from November 22nd to 24th.

The 2022 conference theme is: Healthy Cities Leading by Example: One Planet, One People, One Health

Cork Healthy Cities was represented at the conference with a small in-person delegation presenting seven Cork Healthy Cities partnership projects.
Mayors and senior political representatives gathered a new political statement to Operationalize a “One Health” approach at local level was adopted as well as confirming commitment to the values and principles of the Healthy Cities movement.
The commitment to the “One Health Approach” is about the interaction between human, animal and environmental health in the context of Phase VII of the WHO European Network and the six Ps: People, Place, Participation, Peace, Prosperity and Planet. The 2022 Conference themes also build on the Geneva Charter for Well-being adopted in December 2021, which highlights the need for global commitments to achieve equitable health and social outcomes now and for future generations without destroying the health of our planet.
